Gamecocks in the Minor Leagues - 2021 Season Wrap-Up

Thirty-one Gamecocks played on the Farm this season.

The 2021 Minor League Baseball season has come to a close with 31 Gamecocks playing on the Farm. Here’s an update on the Gamecocks in the Minor Leagues.
 
Triple A

  • Eddy Demurias ended his 2021 season with the Louisville Bats, where he made two appearances with the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Demurias spent most of the season with Chattanooga, where he went 3-3 with a 2.43 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 40.2 innings pitched.
  • Cody Morris might have had the best season for Gamecock alums in the minor leagues. He pitched with Akron and Columbus in the Cleveland Indians organization and had 93 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched. With the Clippers, he was 2-2 with a 1.72 ERA in eight starts. He had a 1.35 ERA with the Rubberducks in 20 innings pitched.
  • John Parke split time between Birmingham and Charlotte in the Chicago White Sox organization, going 5-7 with a 4.15 ERA and 86 strikeouts. He made 11 starts with the Knights, boasting a 3.62 ERA in 11 starts.
  • Clarke Schmidt came back from injury to pitch for five different teams in 2021. He made two appearances for the New York Yankees, striking out six in 6.1 innings of work. Schmidt spent most of his time at Scranton-Wilkes Barre as he had a 2.10 ERA in 25.2 innings with the RailRiders.
  • Tyler Webb made 22 appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals and ended 2021 with the Memphis Redbirds, striking out 32 batters in 21.2 innings pitched in 18 games played.
  • Jack Wynkoop made 12 appearances for Albuquerque and was 2-0 with a 2.83 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched. Wynkoop missed the second half of the season due to injury.

 
Double A

  • Luke Berryhill played for three teams in the Houston Astros organization in 2021, ended his season with Corpus Christi. He combined to hit .295 with 20 doubles, 15 home runs and 54 RBI.
  • Jonah Bride spent 2021 with the Midland Rockhounds in the Oakland Athletics’ organization. He hit .265 with 11 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 49 RBI in 78 games played in Midland.
  • Carlos Cortes played for Binghamton in the New York Mets organization and had 26 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs and 57 RBI with the Rumble Ponies in 79 games played.
  • Adam Hill split time between Arkansas and Everett in the Seattle Mariners’ organization. He had a 3.60 ERA with Everett in five starts and 30 innings pitched. He had 66 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched at Arkansas.
  • TJ Hopkins played in 74 games for Chattanooga in the Cincinnati Reds organization, hitting .268 with 42 runs scored, 14 doubles, seven triples, five home runs and 33 RBI in 74 games played.
  • Brett Kerry made a quick jump to Double A, ended his 2021 season with the Rocket City Trash Pandas in the Los Angeles Angels organization. Kerry had a 1.26 ERA in five starts between Inland Empire and Rocket City, striking out 19 batters in 14.1 innings pitched.
  • Graham Lawson split time between South Bend and Tennessee in the Chicago Cubs organization, making 31 appearances with 42 strikeouts in 37.1 innings pitched. He had two wins and a save in 2021 to go along with a pair of holds.
  • Madison Stokes played in 94 games for Reading in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, hitting .240 with 41 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 40 RBI to go along with a pair of stolen bases.
  • Dom Thompson-Williams played in 58 games for Arkansas in the Seattle Mariners organization and had nine doubles, five home runs and 28 RBI with four stolen bases.
  • Braden Webb made 41 appearances on the mound for the Biloxi Shuckers in the Milwaukee Brewers organization and had four wins, four holds and three saves with 67 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched.

 
High A

  • Alex Destino played in 105 games for Winston-Salem in the Chicago White Sox organization. He had 15 doubles, three triples and 21 home runs to go along with 66 runs scored and 60 RBI.
  • Thomas Farr pitched for three teams in the Cincinnati Reds organization, ending 2021 with Dayton. He combined to make four appearances and three starts and had a 0.90 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.
  • Carmen Mlodzinski made 15 appearances and 14 starts for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, striking out 66 batters in 52.1 innings pitched and having a 3.96 ERA.
  • Reid Morgan played for three different teams in the Seattle Mariners organization, combining to go 5-3 in 22 appearances with 49 strikeouts in 48.1 innings pitched. Morgan was 2-0 with a 3.68 ERA for Everett in 2021.
  • TJ Shook split time between Carolina and Wisconsin in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He went 5-2 with a 4.96 ERA in 13 starts and had 71 strikeouts in 52.2 innings pitched.

 
Low A

  • Noah Campbell played in 100 games for the Carolina Mudcats in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, hitting .270 with 21 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 53 RBI to go along with 20 stolen bases. Campbell made history, playing all nine positions in the Mudcats’ season finale against Fayetteville on Sept. 19.
  • Wes Clarke played in 24 games between the Brewers’ Arizona League team and the Carolina Mudcats. He had three doubles and five home runs in 76 at-bats to go along with 21 walks.
  • Daniel Lloyd made 10 appearances in the Baltimore Orioles organization between FCL Orioles Orange and Delmarva. He went 1-0 with 17 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched.
  • Andrew Peters made 10 appearances for Inland Empire in the Los Angeles Angels organization, picking up a pair of wins and striking out 20 in 11.2 innings pitched.

 
Rookie

  • Brannon Jordan made four appearances for the ACL Brewers Blue, going 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.

 
Independent

  • Anthony Amicangelo played in 77 games for Billings in the Pioneer League and had a .378 batting average with 23 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 85 RBI.
  • George Callil played in 15 games in the regular season for the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association. He had a pair of doubles and four RBI.
  • Kyle Martin played in 99 games for the Winnipeg Goldeyes in the American Association and had a .280 batting average with 25 doubles, two triples, 31 home runs and 106 RBI. His RBI total led the league and he was second in home runs.
  • Jacob Olson played in 20 games for the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League and hit .313 with 11 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 18 RBI.
  • LT Tolbert hit .295 with 22 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 43 RBI for the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association.
