The Gamecocks won a series against No. 1 Texas this past weekend.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 on the week, highlighted by a series win over No. 1 Texas.

NOTES:
Matthew Becker made his first career start a memorable one in the 9-4 win over No. 1 Texas on Sunday afternoon. Becker allowed just one hit, a solo home run in the first, while striking out 11 batters in six innings pitched. He threw just 88 pitches in the six innings in earning the win.
 
Michael Braswell extended his hit streak to 15 games with hits in all three contests vs. Texas. Braswell leads the Gamecocks with a .417 batting average and now has three saves after pitching the seventh in the 4-2 win on Sunday.
 
Brandt Belk had a great weekend against the Longhorns, going 8-for-12 with a pair of doubles, a home run and two RBI in the three games. Belk had four hits in the opener against the Longhorns, one off of his career high.
 
Carolina earned its first two wins over Texas in program history and won the series over the number one team for the first time since 2011.
 
Carolina hosts Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night before starting SEC play next weekend at Tennessee. Saturday’s game will be on SEC Network.
