Gamecocks to Host Garnet and Black Round Robin

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina softball team will have a quick turnaround, as the Gamecocks host NC State and East Tennessee State for the Garnet and Black Round Robin April 8 and 9. Friday’s game against NC State will be broadcast on ESPN2, while the other three games will be available on SECN+.

• It’s been over a decade since the Gamecocks have played either program. 
• Three of South Carolina’s meetings against the Bucs came during the 2002 season. All four games in the series have been in Columbia.
• Coach Smith faced the Wolfpack in her first season in Carolina. 
• The Gamecocks and Wolfpack faced off in the 2007 NCAA Tournament in Columbia, with Carolina winning both games. 
• The two teams also faced off during the 2006 season in Columbia, with the Gamecocks winning 3-0. 
• All four meetings between South Carolina and NC State have taken place at Beckham Field.
