Gamecocks Host Georgia on Senior Day

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina swimming & diving will conclude the home portion of their schedule on Saturday where they will face the Georgia Bulldogs in their final full-team dual of the season at 11 a.m. The Gamecock seniors will be recognized for their service to the program prior to the meet at approximately 10:30 a.m.

South Carolina is coming off of their first dual sweep of the season, having taken down UNCW’s men’s and women’s teams last weekend. The No. 24 Gamecock women will face Georgia’s No. 9 women, while the Gamecock men will take on the 10th ranked Bulldogs. Georgia’s women are 5-2 overall this season with a 1-2 mark in SEC action. Their men’s team is 6-1 overall with a perfect 3-0 mark in the SEC.

This will be the 51st all-time meeting between South Carolina and Georgia’s men. The Bulldogs lead the series 34-16 with Gamecocks having last won in 1987. On the women’s side, this will be the 35th meeting of the two teams. Georgia’s women lead the all-time series 30-4.

Coming off of South Carolina’s dual versus UNCW, two Gamecocks secured two SEC weekly honors. Graduate Brooke Schultz was named SEC Diver of the Week for her springboard sweep at the Georgia Diving Invitational and Meaghan Harnish was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her two individual event wins in the 1000 free and the 400 IM.

On the men’s side fifth-year senior Rafael Davila remains undefeated in the 100 free, having won the event all six times that he has competed in it this season. Senior Luke DeVore has also found consistent success, his coming in the 100 fly. He has won the event five out of six times this season.

Admission to the meet is free and open to the public. Doors will open for spectators one hour prior to the meet and a clear bag policy will be in effect. Spectators must remain in the upstairs gallery and will not be permitted on the pool deck at any time. Live results will be on the subscription-based MeetMobile app.
