Boston, Hall Named CSC Academic All-District
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two Gamecocks earned spots on the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Women’s Basketball Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Senior forward Aliyah Boston was selected for the third time in as many seasons, and sophomore guard Bree Hall made her debut on the list.
Boston is the reigning Academic All-America Teammate of the Year and a two-time Women’s Basketball Academic All-American of the Year. The mass communications major has been a regular on the Dean’s List and SEC Academic Honor Roll throughout her career. Her achievements on the court and in the classroom helped her become the program’s first Honda Cup winner last season as well. This season, Boston is sixth in the nation in double-doubles (17) and has the highest combined ranking in offensive and defensive player rating, sixth and third, respectively, and leads the SEC in both categories. She averages 13.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, ranking among the nation’s top 30 in rebounding, offensive rebounding and blocks.
Hall is a sport and entertainment management major who has also appeared on the Dean’s List and the SEC Academic Honor Roll. On the court, she has nearly doubled her scoring average over last season, netting 5.3 points per game this season, including three games in double figures. Her 12 points at #2/2 Stanford helped rally the Gamecocks to force overtime and come out with the win, and she poured in a career-high 18 points at Alabama.
The #1/1 Gamecocks are back in Thursday night at Tennessee (7 p.m., ESPN) before returning home for the regular-season finale on Sun., Feb. 26, against Georgia. Tipoff is set for noon on ESPN2 with South Carolina honoring its seven seniors in a ceremony to begin at 11:35 a.m. All entrances of Colonial Life Arena will open at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item to donate to the Gamecock Pantry.
