COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team plays its final midweek game of 2023 as the Gamecocks welcome Charlotte to Founders Park Tuesday night (May 16) at 7 p.m.

Tuesday’s game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.  All games also will be broadcast on the Gamecocks Sports Network from Learfield with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call.

The Gamecocks won the middle game of a three-game series at Arkansas this past weekend. Jack Mahoney pitched seven shutout innings in a 3-1 win on Saturday night while Cole Messina had four hits in the series.

PARKING INFORMATION
Shuttle parking for the University of South Carolina baseball season will be operational at the Key Road Gravel Lot (1105 Key Road). Shuttle begins two (2) hours prior to first pitch and continues until 1 hour after the game.

For GPS purposes, the address for the Key Road Gravel Lot is 1105 Key Road, Columbia, SC 29201.

GAME DAY PARKING INFORMATION (including public game day lots (PGDL: $10/$5 per game). All gameday lots are cashless. Please have a debit card or credit card ready for payment upon entry into parking lots.

SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
The 49ers lost 2-of-3 games at Florida International this past weekend. Jack Dragum had three hits and Jake Cunningham drove in five in Sunday’s 9-6 win. Cam Fisher leads Charlotte with a .320 batting average and 22 home runs while Blake Jackson has 11 doubles. On the mound, Cameron Hansen is 3-1 with a 3.55 ERA and Wyatt Hudepohl has 99 strikeouts in 81.1 innings pitched.

SERIES VS. CHARLOTTE
Carolina leads the all-time series with Charlotte, 25-10, but the 49ers won the first of a home-and-home, 6-2, at Truist Field on March 21. Cole Messina had two hits in the game and Eli Jones struck out four in 3.1 innings of relief.

GAMECOCKS SPIN GEMS AT ARKANSAS
Jack Mahoney pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in a 3-1 win over Arkansas on May 13. Mahoney set a season high in innings pitched in improving to 5-2 on the season. He has 63 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. Eli Jones had 10 strikeouts in five innings pitched in Friday’s game. Jones has 52 strikeouts in 42.1 innings pitched. Matthew Becker ended the weekend striking out seven in 5.2 innings on Sunday. The Gamecock pitching allowed just 10 runs in the three games in Fayetteville.

UP NEXT
Carolina closes out the regular season with a three-game series with Tennessee at Founders Park. The series begins Thursday, May 18 at 7 p.m. with games on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.). Saturday’s game will be televised on SEC Network.
