2023 South Carolina Football Preseason Practice Schedule/Media Availability Announced
University of South Carolina 2023 Preseason Football Information
• South Carolina Football student-athletes will officially report for preseason camp on Thursday, August 3. The first scheduled practice will be Friday, August 4. The team will conduct its practices at either the practice fields (located behind the Long Family Football Facility at the west end of Gamecock Park), in the Jerri and Steve Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility or at Williams-Brice Stadium. Most practices will last approximately two hours. See the attached schedule for practice times. All times are subject to change.
• Media Day is set for Thursday, August 3, from 3-5 pm in the Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility. Media should enter through the main doors on the south end of the facility. Head coach Shane Beamer will hold a press conference from 3-3:30 pm. Coach Beamer will also be available for short one-on-ones with television stations following the formal press conference. If you wish to schedule a one-on-one interview with Coach Beamer, please make that request to Steve Fink so a time slot, which will be limited in length, can be reserved. Assistant coaches will be available from 3:30-4 pm at tables located in the indoor facility. All offensive players will be available from 4-4:30 pm. All defensive players and specialists will be available from 4:30-5 pm.
• Regularly-credentialed media members will be allowed to observe and photograph (still and/or video) the team stretching period along with a designated number of practice periods on August 4, 7, 11, and 17. See the attached schedule for the specific number of periods allowed. No live streaming is allowed. Those media members attending the practice sessions should assemble by the gate on the southeast corner of the practice fields between the indoor facility and the operations center and will be escorted in when the flex period begins. Media must remain behind the designated line on the south end of the practice fields at all times, unless instructed differently.
• Post-practice media interviews are scheduled to take place in person in the defensive team/media room, located on the second floor of the Long Family Football Facility. Regularly-credentialed media can park on the north end of the Long Family Football Facility, enter through the media door in the middle of the north end of the facility, and take the elevator to reach the defensive meeting room. All interviews will take place at the podium.
• Student-athlete interview requests must be submitted to Associate AD/Communications Steve Fink by no later than 10 am one day in advance of the scheduled availability. Only requested and approved student-athletes will be made available. Due to scheduling conflicts or coach’s discretion, we may not be able to accommodate every request. See the attached schedule for media availabilities.
• Coach Beamer will hold his weekly press conference on Tuesdays in the defensive team/media room, located on the second floor of the Long Family Football Facility, from 1:30 pm- 2 pm. The first weekly press conference will be held on Tuesday, August 22. In-season player interviews will also be conducted on Tuesdays following the morning practice at the same location. Coordinators will be available on Wednesdays beginning at 12:30 pm. The first scheduled availability is August 23.
• Coach Beamer will conduct a weekly teleconference at 7:15 pm every Sunday during the season, beginning Sunday, September 3.
• The SEC hosts a weekly teleconference each Wednesday beginning August 30. Coach Beamer will be on the call at 12:10 pm ET each week.
• Coach Beamer will take part in “Carolina Calls” with Todd Ellis on Thursdays during the season from Backstreets Grill, 2400 Devine. The radio call-in show runs from 6-7 pm. The special preseason edition is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23.
