Gamecocks Fourth at Mason Rudolph

Maylis Lamoure fired another round in the 60s to lead Carolina on day one

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 7 South Carolina is fourth after the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship. The Gamecocks fired an opening round 281 (-7) and sit seven shots off the pace.

Freshman Maylis Lamoure, fresh off a T-5^th finish at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate, continued her strong play leading the team with a 3-under 69 that has her inside the top-10. She made four birdies at Vanderbilt Legends Club, two of which came on the final three holes.

The Gamecocks junior All-American duo of Louise Rydqvist and Hannah Darling each shot 70 (-2) and sit T-15^th. Rydqvist made four birdies and turned in a bogey free 33 (-3) on the front nine. Darling also made four birdies with the only blemish on her scorecard a double at the par-3 fifth hole.

Sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand was the final counting score with an even par 72. Like Rydqvist, she also turned in a bogey free 33 (-3) on the front nine. Freshman Vai Heck shot 74 (+2). She made the turn at 2-under thanks to an eagle and birdie on the front nine but was hurt by a pair of doubles on the backside. She was one of four players in the 96-person field to record an eagle the opening 18 holes.

No. 9 Auburn had the round of the day with a 14-under 274. The Tigers have a pair of players at the top of the leaderboard with Ami Gianchandani (-8, 64) and Megan Schofill (-6, 66).

Carolina will be paired with No. 16 Ole Miss and North Carolina for the second round Saturday. Heck will be the first player off for the Gamecocks at 10:24 a.m. (ET). Live scoring will be available again via Golfstat.
