Legette Named to Pair of Mid-Season All-Star Teams
University of South Carolina senior wide receiver Xavier Legette has been named to a pair of mid-season all-star teams announced today. Legette was named to the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl Midseason All-America Team and was selected to the Pro Football Focus (PFF) Midseason College Football All-Prospect Team.
Legette, a 6-3, 227-pounder from Mullins, S.C., has caught 32 passes for 606 yards, averaging 18.9 yards per catch and 121.2 yards per game, with three touchdowns. He ranks fourth among all FBS players in receiving yards per game and was recently added to the Biletnikoff Watch List.
The 2023 Senior Bowl Midseason All-American team is chosen by the Senior Bowl Scouting Staff from the best-of-the-best in college football that are eligible for the 2024 Senior Bowl.
Meanwhile, PFF had this to say about the Carolina standout:
“Legette was not on the initial 2024 PFF big board. Most of the NFL world thought he was a Day 3 player going into the season. But midway through the year, he feels closer to a first-rounder. The 6-foot-3, 227-pound receiver has been a contested-catch machine, hauling in six of his nine contested targets this season. He is also averaging an insanely high 3.39 yards per route run, which is a top-15 figure among FBS receivers. That shows how much of a focal point he is for South Carolina’s offense.”
Legette is currently ranked the No. 37 prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft by PFF.
Legette and the Gamecocks (2-3, 1-2 SEC) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host the Florida Gators (4-2, 2-1 SEC) at a sold out Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Game time is set for 3:30 pm and the contest will be televised by the SEC Network.
