PHILADELPHIA – Christian Walker and the Arizona Diamondbacks advanced to the World Series after its 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night (Oct. 24) in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series.

The Diamondbacks will face the Texas Rangers, with fellow Gamecock Jordan Montgomery, in the World Series starting Friday night (Oct. 27) at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Walker and Montgomery become the first Gamecocks to play in the World Series since Jackie Bradley Jr. and Steve Pearce were in the 2018 World Series for the Boston Red Sox.

South Carolina joins Virginia as the only schools to have one alum on both teams in this year’s World Series.

Walker drove in a run in the first inning in Tuesday night’s Game 7 win. He had an RBI in a 6-5 win over the Phillies in Game 4 on Friday and walked twice in the Game 3 win on Tuesday.
