Freshman Bo Carpenter fires career-best score of 68 (-4) in the final round Tuesday
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – South Carolina finished strong with an 11-under 277 in the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday. The Gamecocks finished 11th at the event with a 54-hole team score of 17-under.
Carolina’s round today was the fourth lowest in the strong, 15-team field.
Freshman Bo Carpenter paced the Gamecocks today with a career-best, 4-under 68. He led the team this week with a T-26th finish at 7-under par. Carpenter’s 54-hole total of 209 is a new career low mark. Today he made three birdies and an eagle at the par-5 second hole.
Junior Nathan Franks put together another solid round with another 69 (-3). The Roebuck, S.C., native and reigning SEC Golfer of the Week made a team-high five birdies in the final round. He finished T-30th at 6-under for the tournament.
Redshirt sophomore Frankie Harris posted his third consecutive red number of the tournament with a final round 70 (-2). He T-37th at 5-under for the event. Senior Rafe Reynolds was the final counting score with a 70 (-2) as well.
The Gamecocks will be off from competition the next month before teeing it up again at the Schenkel Invitational (March 15-17) in Statesboro, Ga. The team will compete in two more regular season events before the SEC Championship (April 24-28), which returns to Sea Island Golf Club again for the 23rd year.
