Harnish Punches Ticket to NCAAs at Last Chance Meet

Athens, Ga. – South Carolina swimming completed the first day of action at the UGA Last Chance Invite on Saturday. Sophomore Meaghan Harnish was the star of the day, punching her ticket to the NCAA Championships in the 400 IM.

In a time trial of the event, Harnish swam a 4:08.97 which makes her 21st in the NCAA rankings. The time jumps her up to third in the program’s all-time top-10.

Also in the same time trial, senior Laura Goettler swam a new career best in the 100 breast with a 1:01.93.

In the finals of the meet, senior Nicholle Toh won the 100 fly with a time of 53.25. Also competing in the finals was Peyton Curry who placed sixth in the 50 free with a 23.07 and Bella Pantano who placed second in the 200 back with a time of 1:55.25.

During the prelims, Harnish swam a new career best time in the 200 IM with a 1:59.85. The time puts her at ninth in the program’s all-time top-10.

The Last Chance meet will conclude on Sunday with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m. Live results are available on the Meet Mobile app.
