Six Swimmers Earns Spots at NCAA Championships

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina swimming & diving had six representatives on the women’s NCAA Swim & Dive Championships qualification list that was released on Wednesday. All six Gamecocks earned individual qualifying times with five of them being first-time qualifiers.

Sophomore Jordan Agliano will be making his first appearance at the national meet and earned her ticket to the event in the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.75. Also with a qualifying time in the 200 fly is senior Nicholle Toh who will be making her second consecutive appearance at NCAAs. Toh’s qualifying time of 1:55.59 makes her the third fastest swimmer in program history.

Fellow senior Bella Pantano will be making her NCAA debut in the 200 back. Her qualifying time of 1:53.40 puts her in fourth in the program’s all-time top-10.

Sophomore Meaghan Harnish will be a first-time swimmer at NCAAs as well with her qualification in the 400 IM. Harnish’s time of 4:08.97 was the fastest on the team this season and third in the program record books.

SEC silver-medalist Greta Pelzek punched her ticket to the national meet in both the 100 and 200 fly. Pelzek has respective times of 51.77 and 1:53.43 in the event with both times being school records. Pelzek is the tenth overall seed in the 200 fly and claimed her SEC silver medal in the event in February.

Attending the meet with three qualifying times is sophomore Amy Riordan who qualified in the 100 back, 200 back, and 200 free. Riordan holds school records in all three events and placed all of them at the 2024 SEC Championships. In the 200 back, Riordan’s qualifying time of 1:52.05 makes her the ninth overall seed in the event.

The women’s NCAA Championships will run March 20-23 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium at the University of Georgia.

South Carolina’s divers are still in search of their NCAA qualifications and will compete this weekend at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens, Ga., from March 10-13.
