Zuechner, Isenhour Both Advance to Finals on First Day of Zones
Athens, Ga. – South Carolina’s divers completed the first day of action at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens on Sunday. The women’s 1-meter was the only event of the day with both participating Gamecocks advancing to the finals.
In the prelims of the event. Junior Blair Isenhour finished 17th with a 249.75 while freshman Aislinn Zuechner finished in 14th with a 251.75.
Both divers earned second chances in the finals of the event where Zuechner’s 12-dive score of 504.80 landed her in 15th while Isenhour’s 495.40 put her in 18th.
Neither diver was able to earn one of the coveted spots in the event at NCAAs but if they are to qualify in another event they will also be permitted to compete the 1-meter based on their Zone placement.
The Zone Diving Championships will continue of Monday with the men’s 1-meter event and the women’s 3-meter event.
