Fry Earns NCAA Invitation

Columbia, S.C. –  On Wednesday, the NCAA announced that South Carolina freshman swimmer Connor Fry has earned an invitation to the national meet. The Kingwood, Texas, native is the lone Gamecock swimmer from the men’s team to earn a spot at the meet.

Fry, a first-year member of the team, earned his invitation in the 1650 free where he put up a team-leading time of 14:54.92. His time, placed during the SEC Championships, puts him at sixth in the program’s all-time top-10. He is the first swimmer to make a mark in the top-10 of the 1650 free since Rafael Davila did at the 2019 NCAA Championships.

Fry will also be permitted to compete in the 500 free where he has a season-best time of 4:17.98.

The men’s NCAA Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, March 27-30.
