No. 23 Gamecocks Drop Game Two to No. 7 Volunteers
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 23 South Carolina softball team (22-9, 0-5) dropped game two of its SEC series to No. 7 Tennessee (25-4, 5-0) 7-0 Sunday night (March 24).
Riley Blampied reached base in all three of her plate appearances, collecting two hits, including a double, and drawing a walk.

Tennessee took the lead in the first and never gave it back, scoring after a walk, an error, and a sacrifice fly.
They added to the lead with a two-run home run in the third and fourth innings, and tacking on two more in the sixth.
Carolina’s best chance came in the fourth when Denver Bryant doubled with a runner on and two outs, but the runner was tagged out in a rundown.
The Gamecocks had another chance in the sixth as Blampied led off with a walk. She would be left stranded at third after another walk and a groundout.
In the circle, starting pitcher Alana Vawter (8-5) took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits in 3 2-3 innings. Sage Mardjetko didn’t allow a hit in 1 1-3 innings of relief, striking out a pair of Lady Vols. Jori Heard came on for the final two innings, surrendering two runs on three hits.
The series wraps up tomorrow night at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network.
