Pair of Freshmen Represent Men’s Swim & Dive at NCAAs
Indianapolis, Ind. – South Carolina men’s swimming & diving will send a pair of competitors to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis this week. Freshman Connor Fry will represent the men’s swimmers with freshman Max Spencer representing the men’s divers.
The NCAA Championships will begin on Wednesday, March 27, and will run through Saturday, March 30 at the IU Natatorium at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
Fry earned his spot at the NCAAs thanks to his time in the 1650 free. The freshman swam a 14:54.52 at the SEC Championships, that put him in ninth-place. The time was good for 29th in the nation this season, earning his spot in the mile at the national meet.
Fry will also be permitted to compete in the 500 free where is current season-best time of 4:17.98.
Spencer earned his spot at the NCAAs with his performance at the NCAA Zone B Championships. The freshman placed sixth at the zone meet to punch his ticket to nationals.
Fry’s 500 free trial will take place on Thursday, March 28 with his 1650 free and Spencer’s platform event both taking place on Saturday, March 30.
