COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 1-3 on the week, falling to Georgia Southern in the midweek before winning the Sunday game against No. 3 Texas A&M.

NOTES:
Carolina has now won the final game of all four SEC series, including a 6-5 win over Texas A&M on April 7. Matthew Becker struck out eight in four innings and Ethan Petry hit his 13th home run of the season in the win.

Petry now is tied for 14th place with Derick Urquhart with 36 career home runs as a Gamecock. He needs two more to match Eric Stanton for 13th place.

Gavin Casas had three hits in the Sunday win and had five hits in the Texas A&M series, including Carolina’s first pinch hit home run since 2022. Casas is hitting .379 in Carolina’s last 10 games.

Ty Good went 5.2 innings of relief on Saturday, allowing an unearned run while striking out six. Good is 4-0 on the season with a 1.93 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched.

Carolina is at 6-6 on the year in the SEC with next week being the halfway point in the league. The Gamecocks are tied with Florida for fourth place in the SEC East and are tied for sixth overall.

Carolina heads to Charlotte for a Tuesday night game with North Carolina. The Gamecocks then travel to Florida for a three-game set with the Gators.
