Hunter Rogers Named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List

University of South Carolina redshirt senior Hunter Rogers is one of 30 players named to the sixth annual Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, it was announced today. The award, named after former NFL standout Patrick Mannelly, goes to the player judged to be the best FBS long snapper in the country.

Rogers, a 6-1, 206-pounder from Spring Valley High School in Columbia, has been an All-SEC performer in each of the past two seasons. He was a second-team selection in 2022, then earned first team All-SEC honors as selected by the coaches in 2023. The fifth-year player took over the long snapping duties midway through the 2021 season and has handled those duties ever since.

The award, which was created in 2019, benefits Bernie’s Book Bank, a non-profit organization located in Lake Bluff, Ill. Ten semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 11. The list will be narrowed to three finalists on Nov. 25 and the winner will be selected at the live award ceremony in Lake Bluff on Dec. 14.

Rogers and the Gamecocks report to fall camp on Thursday, Aug. 1, and officially begin practice on Friday, Aug. 2 ahead of the season opener, which is set for Saturday, Aug. 31 against Old Dominion.
