Dylan Stewart Named Shaun Alexander's Freshman Player of the Week

University of South Carolina EDGE Dylan Stewart has been named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award’s National Player of the Week following his exceptional performance in the Gamecocks’ 23-19 win over Old Dominion, the Maxwell Football Club announced today.

The 6-6, 248-pound freshman from Washington, D.C., made a significant impact with four tackles, including 1.5 sacks, a quarterback hurry, and two forced fumbles. Notably, Stewart’s crucial strip sack in the fourth quarter inside the Monarchs’ 10-yard line was instrumental in setting up the Gamecocks’ decisive score. Stewart has undeniably demonstrated the talent and potential anticipated of a five-star recruit.

Stewart and the Gamecocks will travel to Lexington, Ky. to open SEC play on Saturday, Sept. 7. Game time is set for 3:30 pm ET and the contest will be televised nationally on ABC.
