Kroeger Named One of "Ray's 8" for Week 8

University of South Carolina fifth-year senior Kai Kroeger has been named one of “Ray’s 8” for Week 8, the Ray Guy Award committee announced today.

Kroeger, a 6-4, 213-pounder from Lake Forest, Ill., matched his career high with eight punts in the Gamecocks’ 35-9 win at Oklahoma for a 51.6-yard average. Six of the eight punts traveled more than 50 yards, including a long of 57. Four of the eight punts pinned the Sooners inside the 20-yard line.

Kroeger, a 2022 All-American, leads the SEC and ranks second in the country with an average of 48.8 yards per punt.

Kroeger and the rest of the Gamecocks (4-3, 2-3 SEC) will enjoy a bye week this week. They will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they host the 14th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies (6-1, 4-0 SEC) in a night game at Williams-Brice Stadium.
