2025 Football Schedule Revealed
BIRMINGHAM (December 11, 2024) – The University of South Carolina’s 2025 football schedule was revealed tonight by the Southeastern Conference. The schedule opens with a nationally-televised Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium against Virginia Tech on Sunday, Aug. 31, and features seven home games.
The 2025 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will mark the 21st time that the Gamecocks and Hokies have played but will be their first meeting since 1991. South Carolina leads the all-time series 11-7-2 and has won the last four contests between the two programs, including a 28-21 victory the last time they met. It will be the first time that South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer will face his alma mater and where his dad, Frank Beamer, became a Hall of Fame head coach.
The Gamecocks will host their annual FCS in-state rival in week 2, as the South Carolina State Bulldogs will make their way to Columbia on Sept. 6. The Gamecocks have won each of the three previous meetings with SC State, most recently a 50-10 win in 2022.
The SEC opener is set for Sept. 13 when the Vanderbilt Commodores visit Williams-Brice Stadium. South Carolina extended its winning streak over the ‘Dores to 16-straight games with a 28-7 win in Nashville earlier this season. Carolina has won 30 of the 34 meetings between the two rivals including a 14-2 advantage in Columbia.
The Mayor’s Cup will be on the line in South Carolina’s SEC road opener when the Gamecocks travel to Columbia, Mo. to face the Missouri Tigers. The Gamecocks posted a 34-30 win over Missouri this season, snapping a five-game losing streak to the Tigers. Mizzou holds a 9-6 lead in the all-time series including a 4-2 advantage in the Show-Me State.
The Gamecocks return home on Sept. 27 to host the Kentucky Wildcats. Carolina routed the Wildcats, 30-6 in Lexington in 2024, setting the tone for both teams’ seasons. The Gamecocks have won three-straight to take a 21-14-1 lead in the all-time series including a 10-6-1 advantage when playing at home.
After the first of two open dates on Oct. 4, the Gamecocks travel to Death Valley and an Oct. 11 match with the LSU Tigers. LSU survived a 36-33 decision in Columbia earlier this year, their eighth-straight win in the series. The Bayou Bengals own a 20-2-1 lead in the all-time series including a 13-1 mark in Baton Rouge. The Gamecocks lone win in the Tigers’ den came in 1994.
The Oklahoma Sooners will make their first trip to Columbia on Oct. 18. South Carolina rolled to an easy 35-9 win in Norman in October in the first gridiron meeting ever between the two schools.
South Carolina will host the Alabama Crimson Tide on Oct. 25. The Tide nipped the Gamecocks 27-25 in Tuscaloosa in October, their 14th win in 17 tries in the series. Alabama has won four of the previous six times they’ve visited Columbia.
They remember November and the Gamecocks will try to build on the 5-0 record they posted in that month this year with four games in 2025, beginning with a November 1 date in Oxford against the Ole Miss Rebels. Ole Miss leads the all-time series 10-8 following a 27-3 win in Columbia in 2024.
The Gamecocks will enjoy their second open date of the season on Nov. 8 before wrapping up their 2025 SEC slate at Texas A&M on Nov. 15 with the Bonham Trophy in the balance. The Gamecocks rolled to a 44-20 win over the Aggies in 2024, their second win in the last three years. A&M holds a 9-2 lead in the all-time series including a perfect 5-0 mark in College Station.
South Carolina’s final two games of the regular season are both non-conference home games against in-state rivals. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will make their way to Columbia from Conway on Nov. 22. South Carolina has won both of the two previous contest including a 49-15 rout in 2018 in their last meeting.
The 2025 regular season comes to an end with the traditional Palmetto Bowl matchup with the Clemson Tigers. This year’s contest will take place at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia on Nov. 29. South Carolina escaped Tigertown with a 17-14 win in November, their second win in the last three meetings with the Tigers.
