Riordan Breaks School Record, Verzyl Tabbed All-American on Day 3 of NCAAs

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The South Carolina women’s swimming & diving team broke one school record and picked up another All-American honorable mention on day three of the 2025 NCAA Championships.

Greta Pelzek kicked off the morning events for the Gamecocks, placing 26th with a time of 51.91 in the 100 fly, her third fastest time this season. Breckin Gormley swam a 53.70 in the same event.

Madison Kolessar was a tenth off her season best in the 400 IM, clocking a 4:13.02 to place 36th overall while Delaney Franklin finished in a 4:17.25.

For the second consecutive season, Amy Riordan broke the school record in the 100 backstroke at NCAA Championships. The junior swam a 51.78 in the event which placed her 29th overall.

Sophie Verzyl narrowly missed the championship finals of the 3-meter after placing ninth in the prelims with a 328.75 which consisted of scores of 45.00 or higher including a 66.00 on her fourth dive, a back 2 ½ somersault pike. The junior improved slightly in the consolation finals, adding a couple points to her prelims score to put up a final of 331.55 and place 11th overall. For placing in the top 16 in the NCAA, Verzyl was awarded her second All-American honorable mention of the meet.

The 400 medley relay of Riordan, Liz Goodwin-Birnie, Pelzek and Peyton Curry wrapped up the day with a 3:31.71, less than a second off of their best time and school record in the event.

The fourth and final day of the NCAA Championships continue today with prelims starting at 1:00 p.m. (ET). The Gamecocks will be competing in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and 400 free relay.
