Eight Gamecocks Named to CSC Academic All-District Swimming & Diving Team

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eight Gamecocks from the South Carolina swimming & diving team were named to the 2025 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women’s Swimming & Diving teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women’s swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

CSC All-District team members meet the following criteria: At least a sophomore athletically and academically, owns at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must compete in five competitions OR finish top-eight at a conference meet.

The women’s team is represented by Amy Riordan, Greta Pelzek, Peyton Curry and Sophie Verzyl. The men’s team honorees are Linus Kahl, Wylie Kruse, Raymond Prosinski and Max Spencer.

Riordan, studying Biological Sciences and Marine Science, made B finals in all three of her individual events at SEC Championships. Along with Pelzek and Curry, she helped the 400 medley relay break the school record and earn an NCAA A-cut. The junior qualified for her second consecutive NCAA Championships where she made consolation finals in the 200 back, earning All-American honorable mention. Additionally, she broke the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 400 free relay and 800 freestyle relay school records.

Pelzek, a Psychology major, qualified in finals for all of her individual events at SEC Championships. The senior placed seventh in the 100 fly and fourth in the 200 fly, breaking the school record in both. She booked a spot in NCAA Championships for her third consecutive season where she earned All-American status after placing eighth overall in the 200 fly.

Curry, studying Services Management, made it to finals in both her individual events at SECs. She placed 12th in the 100 free and took fifth in the 50 free after breaking the school record three times that day. The senior qualified for her second NCAA Championships in her career, swimming the 50 and 100 as well as the 400 freestyle and 400 medley relays. At the meet Curry helped the 400 freestyle relay break the school record.

Verzyl, an Operations & Supply Chain major, led the team at conference championships as she was the SEC Champion in the 3-meter and SEC runner-up in the 1-meter. She qualified for her second NCAA Championships where she made consolation finals in the 1- and 3-meter to earn two All-American honorable mentions.

Kahl, studying Services Management, qualified for finals in all three of his individual events at SEC Championships. He posted best times in the 200 breaststroke (1:54.40) and 200 IM (1:43.69) with marks that rank second in program history in both events. Additionally, the senior helped the 400 medley relay break the school record.

Kruse, a Real Estate major, made finals in the 200 back at SEC Championships, clocking an NCAA B time of 1:42.51. He also helped three different relays swim top 10 marks throughout the season.

Prosinksi, studying Accounting, placed 23rd overall in the 1650 freestyle with a season best and NCAA B cut time of 15:02.30 at SECs. He also helped the 800 freestyle relay swim the eighth fastest time in program history.

Spencer, a Sport & Entertainment Management major, made finals in the 1-meter and platform at SECs. He qualified for the championship final in the platform, placing fifth overall. In the 1-meter he took second in the consolation final and 10th overall. The sophomore went on the qualify for his second consecutive NCAA Championships in the platform, placing 16th overall and earning All-American honorable mention.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 22 (women) and April 24 (men).
