Riordan Takes Down School and Pool Record in Day Two of Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina swim team rounded out day two of the 2025 Gamecock Invitational on Wednesday inside Carolina Natatorium. Senior Amy Riordan headlined the Gamecocks’ performance with a record-breaking swim in the 200 freestyle. 

WOMEN

  • The 200 medley relay team of Riordan, Liz Goodwin-Birnie, Taylor Grimley and Dylan Scholes grabbed second with a time of 1:38.00. The team of Meg Maholic, Caroline Kudela, Samantha Chan and Kara West placed just behind them in third with a time of 1:38.73.  
  • Jordan Agliano picked up her first win of the invite in the 100 butterfly in 54.51 from the outside lane. 
  • Meaghan Harnish had the third-place finish in the 400 IM in a time of 4:10.67. 
  • Riordan posted a statement win in the 200 freestyle, breaking both the school record and pool record and recorded an NCAA ‘A’ Cut time of  1:43.75. 
  • Liz Goodwine-Birnie capped off the night with a win in the 100 breaststroke, recording a time of 1:01.14. 

MEN

  • The men took the 200 medley relay title in a time of 1:24.90 with the team of Ryan Hufford, Einar Agustsson, Eldor Usmonov and Pierre Largeron. 
  • Usmonov completed the event sweep in the 100 butterfly, taking the event in a time of 46.53. 
  • Largeron grabbed his first event win of the week in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:33.92. 
  • Agustsson took second in the 100 breaststroke after breaking the pool record in a time of 51.78 this morning in the prelim session.  

The Gamecock women are leading the way through day two of the invitational with 578 points, while the men sit in second with 438, just behind UNC. Day three of the competition will continue tomorrow with the 100 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle, 50 free and 200 freestyle relay (finals only).
