Largeron's Pool Record Highlights Day Three of Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina wrapped up night three of the 2025 Gamecock Invitational on Thursday at Carolina Natatorium, highlighted by junior Pierre Largeron’s record-setting victory in the 500 freestyle.

WOMEN

  • The quartet of Dylan Scholes, Kara West, Emily Eaton and Taylor Grimley opened the session with a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay, clocking a 1:30.13.
  • Opening up the individual events, Amy Riordan secured second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.08. 
  • In the 200 breaststroke, Delaney Franklin won the event in 2:09.92 with teammate Meaghan Harnish finishing in 2:13.06 for third. 
  • The Gamecocks completed the sweep in the 500 freestyle with Nora Fluck finishing first in 4:42.82, Emma Reiser placed second in 4:45.10 and Breckin Gormley rounded out the group in 4:46.31. 
  • Scholes picked up a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 22.72. 
  • The women closed out the night with a 400 medley relay win in 3:33.42 with the team of Riordan, Goodwin-Birnie, Agliano and Scholes. 

MEN

  • In the 200 medley relay, the team of Quinn Buck, Ryan Hufford, Eldor Usmonov and Largeron placed second in a time of 1:18.56. 
  • Hufford earned the men’s first individual win of the night, taking the 100 backstroke in 46.59.
  • Einar Agustsson picked up second in 1:52.58 in the 200 breaststroke. 
  • Largeron took down the pool record in his 500 freestyle win, finishing in 4:13.93.
  • On the men’s side, the 400 medley relay team of Hufford, Agustsson, Usmonov and Largeron finished in second with a time of 3:07.66. 

The Gamecock women continue to lead the invitational with 1,103 points, while the men remain in second with 809.5 as they head into the final day. Competition resumes tomorrow with the 200 IM, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 400 freestyle relays.
