Verzyl Earns Third SEC Diver of the Week Honor
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior diver Sophie Verzyl earned her third SEC Diver of the Week honor, the league announced Tuesday.
Verzyl is coming off a record-setting performance at the University of Tennessee Diving Invite. She set a new program record, pool record and grabbed the event victory in the 1-meter with a score of 375.15. The previous Gamecock record was held by former NCAA Champion, two-time SEC Diver of the Year, two-time Swimmer of the Meet, Brooke Schultz.
This marked the third conference award Verzyl has been dubbed this season, 12th of her career. The Columbia, S.C. native has claimed nine event wins this season, as she also picked up the 3-meter title at the UT Invitational with a score of 396.60.
