Gamecocks Place Four on Coaches' All-SEC Teams
Four University of South Carolina players earned spots on the Coaches’ 2025 All-SEC football teams, the Southeastern Conference office announced today.
Edge rusher Dylan Stewart and defensive back Jalon Kilgore were named to the All-SEC second team unit, while Edge rusher Bryan Thomas Jr. and return specialist Vicari Swain were named third-team All-SEC by the league’s 16 coaches.
Stewart, a 6-5, 245-pounder sophomore from Washington, D.C., collected 33 tackles including 12 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in 11 games. He was credited with eight quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and forced three fumbles, tying for third in the SEC.
Kilgore, a 6-1, 211-pound junior from Eatonton, Ga., was fourth on the squad with 54 tackles. He led the team with 10 pass breakups while intercepting two passes. He tied for second in the SEC with a dozen passes defended in 11 games. He added one quarterback hurry and a pair of fumble recoveries.
Thomas Jr., a 6-2, 249-pound senior from Windermere, Fla., totaled 41 tackles. He matched Stewart with a dozen tackles for loss while leading the team and ranking tied for fifth in the SEC with 8.0 sacks. He was also credited with a team-high 14 quarterback hurries, forced three fumbles which tied for third in the SEC and added one pass breakup.
Swain, a 6-1, 190-pound redshirt sophomore from Carrollton, Ga., returned 19 punts for 302 yards, a 15.9-yard average. He was one of two players in the country to return three punts for touchdowns and is one of five finalists for the Jet Award, which recognizes the nation’s top returner. His three punt returns for touchdowns tied the school’s single-season record, set by Dick Harris in 1971.
The SEC individual award winners will be released Wednesday and the All-Freshman Team will be announced Thursday.
