Gamecocks Host Hokies for Senior Day Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina swimming and diving team welcomes Virginia Tech to the Carolina Natatorium for its final home meet of the season on Saturday morning. Events will kick off at 10 a.m. and live results will be available on the subscription-based Meet Mobile platform.

The program will honor 17 seniors before the meet commences. Charley Bayer, Quinn Buck, Jack Carman, Michael Cooper, Harvey Freeman, Gage Hulbert, Kyle Korvick and Eldor Usomonov will represent the men’s program, while Jordan Agliano, Makayla Ciancanelli, Breckin Gormley, Meaghan Harnish, Caroline Kudela, Meg Maholic, Amy Riordan, Dylan Scholes and Sophie Verzyl make up the women’s graduating class.

  • The Gamecocks picked up nine new pool records and a sweeping victory over the Royals.
  • The women’s relay team of Riordan, Alexis Dalton, Taylor Grimley and Sofia Luper started the meet off with a pool record in the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:37.84. They picked up the event win as well.
  • Emma Reiser kept the records rolling in the 1000 freestyle, clocking a 9:47.73 for the event win and pool record. Nora Fluck took second with a 9:51.90.
  • Riordan picked up her first win of the day in the 100 backstroke, notching a 52.69, well under the previous pool record. Her initial relay split in the 400 medley relay set the official record at 52.58.
  • The Gamecocks picked up another race sweep in the 200 butterfly with Breckin Gormley, Tori Abruzzo (2:00.83) and Delaney Franklin (2:01.23). Gormley took the event win in 1:58.51, setting her first pool record of the day.
  • The men kicked off the meet with a 400 medley relay pool record with the team of Ryan Hufford, Einar Agustsson, Eldor Usmonov and Bexon Harrison finishing in 3:11.45.
  • Connor Fry notched another men’s pool record with a 1000 freestyle event win, recording a time of 9:03.45. Raymond Prosinski (9:19.02) and Ryan Turner (9:22.48) touched second and third, respectively, for the sweep.
  • Merlin Ficher notched the men’s third pool record of the day in the 200 backstroke with a 1:44.63. Largeron finished behind him for second in a 1:46.96.
  • Agustsson completed the sweep of the breaststroke events with a win in the 200 breaststroke, clocking a 1:57.83.
