Head Coach Jeff Poppell on the Team’s Performance
“First off, it was awesome being able to recognize our special group of 17 seniors before the meet. These athletes represent our very first recruiting class when I arrived here in 2021. They have been so instrumental in helping build our current team culture as well as achieving the success we’ve enjoyed thus far, both in the pool and in the classroom. We are going to miss them a ton next year!”
“Virginia Tech is a great top 25 team, well-coached and always extremely competitive. I’m very proud of our athletes and the way they competed here at home on senior day. It’s fitting that many of our seniors appeared to lead the way for us today with numerous event wins both in the pool and on the diving boards. As a team, I think we’re in a pretty good spot presently and looking forward to building on these great performances as we prepare for the upcoming SEC Championships in February.”
Up Next for the Gamecocks
South Carolina will head to Atlanta, Ga., to take on Georgia Tech on Jan. 24. The women will split off and face Miami, also in Atlanta. Each competition will begin at 11 a.m.
