Swimming and Diving Heads to Atlanta for Final Dual Meet of the Season

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina swimming and diving closes out the dual meet season on Friday in Atlanta, Ga., against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Competition will begin at 4 p.m. and live results will be available on the subscription-based Meet Mobile platform.

Last time out, the South Carolina women’s team captured a 196-98 win over Virginia Tech, while the men fell 185-113. Amy Riordan picked up two individual wins in the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Her performance in the 200 backstroke led her to set a new Carolina Natatorium record. Delaney Franklin added to the victory list as she secured the 200 breaststroke title. Franklin has not lost a 200 breaststroke race this season.

Connor Fry earned another win for the Gamecocks in the 1000 freestyle and Raymond Prosinski finished third. Eldor Usmonov completed the South Carolina sweep in the 100 butterfly alongside Jordan Agliano, who won it for the women.

South Carolina diving was in full force as Sophie Verzyl swept both diving events after recording a 338.85 in the 1-meter and a 371.63 in the 3-meter. Charley Bayer took home the 3-meter victory with a score of 351.15.

Following their performances versus the Hookies, Amy Riordan and Sophie Verzyl were named SEC Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 13.

On the academic side, the men’s team posted the highest team GPA in Division I for the Fall 2025 semester, as announced Tuesday by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Gamecock women earned Scholar All-America Team honors as well, recording a 3.69 team GPA for the fall semester.

A select group of Gamecocks will compete at the UVA Cavalier Invitational from Feb. 5-7 as a last chance meet before the 2026 SEC Championship meet later next month.
