Gamecock Alumni Inducted into North Carolina High School Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2026) – On Saturday night a pair of Gamecock alumni earned the privilege of hearing their names called as they were inducted into the North Carolina High School Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame. Gamecock greats, Isaiah Moore and Demetria (Washington) Davis, were among the seven names inducted on Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Davis, formerly known as Washington, was one of the most decorated Gamecock women in track & field history and was named to the South Carolina Association of Lettermen’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023. During her high school days, Davis attended Terry Sanford in Fayetteville, N.C. where she was a two-time Track & Field News All-American in the 400m. She earned North Carolina Gatorade Track & Field Girls’ Athlete of the Year in 1998 and was a bronze medalist in the U.S. Junior Championships that same year in the 400m. She was a seven-time state champion and earned the 1998 NCHSAA All-Class Indoor State Meet MVP. In 1998 she was also a bronze medalist on Team USA’s 4x400m relay squad at the World Junior Championships in France. She graduated ranked No. 1 all time in North Carolina in three separate events. In 2016, she was inducted into the Fayetteville Sports Club Hall of Fame.

Davis was a member of the Gamecocks from 1999-2003 and was a pivotal piece in South Carolina’s first ever team national title in Gamecock Athletics history in 2002. Davis remains the most decorated athlete in program history earning 21 All-American honors and was a six-time NCAA Champion, including five national champion relay victories. Her 21 All-American nods still remain the most in school history to this day. In 2002, she was named the National Indoor Athlete of the Year. She was also responsible for nine SEC crowns during her time with South Carolina. Davis still ranks seventh all-time in program history in the indoor 400m (52.06) and third in the indoor 4x400m relay (3:28.25). Davis holds strong to five outdoor Top 10 marks in program history, including fourth in the 4x400m relay (3:26.46).

Moore, a 2019 Gamecock graduate, attended high school at Cummings in Burlington, N.C. where he was a six-time North Carolina High School MVP. Moore was a 13-time state champion at Cummings where he was immediately inducted into the Cavaliers’ Hall of Fame upon graduation in 2014. While in high school, the hurdler specialist was a two-time New Balance National Champion, a 2013 U.S. Youth Championships gold medalist and was a bronze medalist in both the World U-18 Championships and the U.S. Junior Championships. During his senior year of high school, Moore was named a Track & Field News All-American in the 110mH and was named the top ranked athlete for the hurdles in Flo’s Top 100 U.S. rankings.

Moore attended South Carolina from 2015-19 where he was a three-time First Team All-American. While with the Gamecocks, Moore was a four-time All-SEC honoree and earned his place as a Penn Relay Champion in the 110mH in 2019. Moore still ranks among the Top 10 in program history in the indoor long jump (9th – 7.38m), outdoor 110mH (3rd – 13.25) and the outdoor shuttle hurdle relay (3rd – 55.53).
