Gamecocks Wrap Up Competition at Cavalier Invitational
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Select members of the South Carolina women’s swimming team competed at the Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., this past weekend, recording several personal and season bests.
Katie Buehler led the way with three personal bests in the 50 freestyle (23.60), 100 backstroke (53.55) and 200 backstroke (1:55.71) alongside two podium finishes in the backstroke events.
Meaghan Harnish completed the meet with two podium finishes in both of her events, clocking a 2:00.28 season best in the 200 IM for third and 4:16.26 in the 400 IM for third. Her teammate, Sofia Luper, finished just ahead of her for second in the 200 IM, setting a personal best of 1:59.77.
Caroline Chasser earned three personal bests, including fourth-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:02.38) and 400 IM (4:19.12).
Alexis Dalton and Caroline Kudela went 2 and 3 with personal bests for both in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:01.23 and 1:01.47, respectively. Dalton and Kudela both picked up another personal best in the 50 freestyle.
The rest of the Gamecocks will compete in the SEC Championships, coming up Feb. 16-21 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
