Men’s 4x400 Meter Relay Garners National Award

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Feb. 16, 2026) – Following a record-setting performance, South Carolina men’s 4×400 meter relay was awarded USTFCCCA National Athlete(s) of the Week. The quartet of Josiah Wrice, Jasauna Dennis, Devan Crumpton and Andrew Salvodon earned the distinction on Monday afternoon as announced by the USTFCCCA office.

The 4x400m relay squad put on a display on Saturday afternoon at the Tiger Paw Invitational, with not just a program record, but the second fastest relay time in collegiate history after running 3:00.86. Wrice opened with a 45.42 split, before handing off to Dennis who clocked a 45.15 400m leg. Crumpton was able to keep the Gamecocks comfortably in front with a 45.28 leg, handing the baton off to Salvodon who was able to close things out by running a 45.02 split. The Gamecock quartet finished just .09 seconds shy of the all-time collegiate record of 3:00.77 set by Southern California’s Zach Shinnick, Rai Benjamin, Ricky Morgan and Michael Norman in 2018.

The quartet rank first in the NCAA this season and join Jaouad Khchina and Anthony Greenhow as the only Gamecock male athletes in program history to be named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. Khchina earned the distinction earlier this season, while Greenhow received the honor in 2022.

The Gamecocks will close out the 2026 indoor regular season this weekend when they host the USC Invite on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Indoor Track.
