Tight end who is back for his sixth year of collegiate football in 2026 and his third year with the Gamecocks… spent his first three season at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind… earned All-MAC and Freshman All-America honors in 2022 as a redshirt freshman… began his career as a quarterback… has appeared in 36 games during his five-year career including 19 starts… has 69 career receptions for 688 yards and five TDs… owns two degrees.
2025 (Redshirt Senior)
Fifth-year tight end… played in all 12 games making seven starts… recognized by the coaches following the season as one of three Outstanding Student-Athlete Award winners and shared the Nutrition Award with Nick Barrett… was the top receiving tight end on the squad with 21 receptions for 168 yards… also rushed three times on the “tush push,” totaling three yards and two touchdowns, all coming in the win over Coastal Carolina… best receiving game came in the season opener against Virginia Tech when he caught four passes for 45 yards… added four catches against LSU… served as a game captain against South Carolina State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Clemson… presented with the 2025 President’s Outstanding Student-Athlete Award at the spring game and was a 2025 Hampshire Honor Society member.
2024 (Redshirt Junior)
Fourth-year tight end who was in his first season with the Gamecocks… joined the team in January… appeared in 10 games making one start… saw action in each of the first 10 games of the season before suffering an ankle injury in the win over Missouri… did not play in the final three contests… lone start came in Week 2 at Kentucky… caught two passes for 22 yards… had an 11-yard reception against Akron and a key 11-yard catch late in the Missouri game… named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll and the 2024-25 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
2023 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Missed the entire season with an ankle injury… was on the leadership council.
2022 (Redshirt Freshman)
Ranked third on the team with 46 receptions for 498 yards and five touchdown… his five TDs tied for the 12th-most among all tight ends in college football during the regular season… posted 34 catches for 401 yards and four scores in Mid-American Conference play… hauled in multiple catches in 11 of 12 games, including six games of at least four grabs… posted season highs of nine catches and 90 yards against Ohio… totaled 21 receptions for 229 yards over the final four games… first Cardinals tight end and fifth Cardinal overall to be named Freshman All-America by the FWAA… first Ball State tight end to be named first team All-MAC since 2013.
2021 (Freshman)
Made the transition from quarterback to tight end… appeared in two games… first career action as a Cardinal came vs. Buffalo… also appeared in the bowl game vs. Georgia State… took a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Delta High School in Muncie, Ind. in 2021, where he was a four-year letterwinner as a quarterback for head coach Chris Overholt… was a three-time team captain… earned first-team all-conference as a junior and senior… named the team MVP as a junior and senior… finished his career with 3,774 yards and 47 touchdowns through the air plus 958 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground… logged 27 wins in his career… was a four-time academic all-conference selection and named academic all-state as a senior… National Honor Society member… was a four-year letterwinner, three-time all-conference pick, three-time sectional champion and all-state honorable mention on the hardwood… also played golf.

Braden J. Hunt was born Aug. 30, 2002… earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Ball State in 2024 and a Master’s degree in sport and entertainment management from South Carolina in December 2025.
