Enrolled at South Carolina and went through spring drills… was a unanimous Freshman All-American, Freshman All-SEC selection and a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award… appeared in all 13 games starting 11 as a true freshman… credited with 23 tackles with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks… also had four quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup… his 6.5 sacks ranked third among all FBS freshmen and was just shy of Jadeveon Clowney’s freshman record of 8.0 sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss… made an immediate impact in the season opener against Old Dominion… earned Shaun Alexander Freshman Player of the Week, 247Sports True Freshman of the Week and was the SEC co-Defensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts against the Monarchs when he recorded four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks… added four tackles with a career-best 3.0 TFLs and a sack against Ole Miss… earned Shaun Alexander Freshman Player of the Week honors for a second time after posting a pair of tackles including a sack against Texas A&M… named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
