Lemuel Jeanpierre Bio

Veteran player who is in his fifth year in the program… will compete for a starting spot at one of the guard positions… expected to be back at full strength after a knee injury sidelined him for the stretch run of the 2008 campaign… played on the defensive side of the ball in his first two seasons at Carolina before making the transition to the offensive line in the final week of the 2007 spring session… has made 11 career starts, including one on the defensive line.

2008: Started five games at guard before suffering a right knee injury in the win over Tennessee… was the starter at left guard in each of the season[apos]s first three games… made one start at right guard against LSU, then returned to his starting role at left guard against UT… did not play again after the injury.

2007: Made five starts at the right guard position, the most on the squad… was one of four players (also Garrett Anderson, James Thompson and Heath Batchelor) who gained starting nods at the position… earned the start against Louisiana-Lafayette, Georgia, LSU, Vanderbilt and Tennessee… made the move during the final week of spring ball from defensive tackle to offensive guard… garnered the Weight Room Effort Award for the defense following spring drills.

2006: Defensive tackle who saw more consistent playing time in the rotation as the season progressed… played in all 13 games, making his lone start in the Liberty Bowl against Houston… logged 17 tackles, including 11 solo stops… six of his 17 tackles came in the backfield, accounting for 26 yards lost, including a pair of sacks… had a season-high five tackles and forced a fumble in the bowl win over Houston… credited with a half sack against FAU, a full sack against Auburn and another half sack against Tennessee… rewarded with the Unselfish Award following spring drills.

2005: Redshirted in his first season on the Carolina campus.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Coach Jimmy Buckridge at Timber Creek High School in Orlando, Fla., graduating in 2005… earned 6A first-team all-state honors… named first-team All-Orange Country as a junior by the Orlando Sentinel after totaling 96 tackles and nine sacks… Played in the Central Florida All-Star Game… regarded as the 44th-best defensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com… ranked #25 on the Orlando Sentinel[apos]s Top 100 players in the state of Florida… three-year starter on the basketball team.
