Oscar Adaway III Bio

Transfer running back from North Texas who received a clock extension, giving him a seventh year of college football in 2025… joined the Carolina program in January 2024… talented, smart and experienced… can do all three phases out of the backfield – run, catch and block… had appeared in 44 career games including eight starts… has rushed 421 times for 2,230 yards and 17 touchdowns… has added 36 pass receptions for 271 yards and a score… owns seven career 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high 126 against Tulsa in 2023 that featured a career-long 77-yard scamper.

2024 (Sixth Year)
Second-team running back behind Raheim “Rocket” Sanders… appeared in all 13 games making a pair of starts… was third on the team with 77 carries for 295 yards and three touchdowns… added 15 receptions for 145 yards out of the backfield… starts came against Ole Miss when Sanders was injured and in the bowl game after Sanders opted out… after logging just six carries for five yards through the first four games, had a season-high 14 carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Akron… recorded a career-long 30-yard reception against Wofford… had a solid effort in the regular season finale against Clemson with six carries for 41 yards… matched his season high with 14 carries for a season-best 69 yards including a 36-yard touchdown run in the Citrus Bowl versus Illinois… added a career-best seven receptions for 37 yards in that contest.

2023 (Redshirt Senior)
Carried the ball 123 times for 738 yards and six touchdowns for North Texas… had a pair of 100-yard rushing games… finished the season strong with 329 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns over the final three games… added 14 receptions for 89 yards… had seven carries for 94 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown burst against Temple… carried the ball six times for 87 yards including  a 67-yard scamper versus Memphis… had 11 totes for 90 yards and a score at SMU… logged 16 carries for a season-high 126 yards, including a career-long 77-yard touchdown run… finished the season with a season-high 18 carries for 113 yards against UAB… the Mean Green finished 5-7 in head coach Eric Morris’ first season.

2022 (Redshirt Junior)
Named to the CSC Comeback Player of the Year Watch List… appeared in nine games with two starts… had 118 rushes for 583 yards and five touchdowns… added five catches for 29 yards and a score… logged a pair of 100-yard rushing games… ran 20 times for 117 yards against SMU… scored a pair of touchdowns on 17 rushes for 85 yards against Texas Southern… ran 14 times for 73 yards and also caught a touchdown pass at UNLV… rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries to help UNT break the single-game school rushing record against Louisiana Tech… the Mean Green, under head coach Seth Littrell, finished 7-7, falling to UTSA in the C-USA Championship Game and to Boise State in the Frisco Bowl.

2021 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Missed the entire season due to ACL injury suffered in fall camp.

2020 (Redshirt Freshman)
Rushed 99 times for 572 yards and three touchdowns for Conference USA’s top rushing team, while catching two passes for eight yards in seven games… logged a trio of 100-yard rushing games… carried five times for a team-high 118 yards, including a season-best 47-yard burst, and two touchdowns, the first of his career, in the season-opening win vs. Houston Baptist… had team-highs with 20 carries and 104 yards vs. SMU on Sept. 19… missed the next two months of the season… returned to action on Nov. 21 against Rice, rushing 14 times for 72 yards… rushed for team-highs 101 yards on 15 carries at UTSA… also collected his only two pass receptions in that contest… led the team with 26 carries and rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown in the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Appalachian State… the Mean Green finished the season with a 4-6 record.

2019 (Freshman)
Redshirted his first year on the North Texas campus after appearing in three games… made his collegiate debut and rushed four times for 42 yards in the win vs. UTEP.

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from North Little Rock (Ark.) High School… as a senior, had 139 rushes for 953 yards and 12 touchdowns… added 42 receptions for 656 yards and six scores… ranked the No. 95 running back in the nation and the No. 9 recruit in Arkansas by ESPN… considered the No. 100 running back in the nation and No. 12 recruit in Arkansas by 247Sports Composite… rated the No. 69 running back in the nation and No. 11 recruit in Arkansas by 247Sports.
