Ryan Broadhead Bio

Fifth-year senior offensive lineman who looks to return to action after missing all of the spring while rehabbing a torn ACL… greyshirted in 2006 and joined the team in Spring 2007… excellent student, has been a member of the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll four times… graduated in May with a degree in economics.

2010: Suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in practice on August 9… underwent surgery and missed the entire season… member of the 2010 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

2009: Did not see any action as a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman… member of the 2009 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

2008: Did not see any action as a redshirt freshman offensive lineman… member of the 2008 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

2007: Redshirted as a true freshman after going through spring drills… member of the 2007 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL: Originally signed with the Gamecocks in February 2006… attended summer school but did not enroll in the fall… added 25 pounds to his frame during that fall… graduated from Lee County (Ga.) High in 2006 where he was coached by David Johnson… played center as a junior before moving to right tackle as a senior… graded out at 90 percent or better in every game his senior year and had 60 pancake blocks… was a Class AAAA first-team all-state honoree by the Georgia Sports Writers Association… led Lee County to a 10-2 record and its first Region I-AAAA Championship while earning first-team All-Metro, All-Area and All-Region recognition by the Albany Herald… team was undefeated in the region and posted its first 10-win season… finished the season No. 5, the highest ranking in school history… also competed in track & field and wrestling… chose South Carolina over scholarship offers from East Carolina, Memphis and UAB.

PERSONAL: Ryan Broadhead graduated in May with a degree in business economics… is an Eagle Scout.
