Garrett Anderson Bio

Experienced senior center who is regarded as one of the stalwarts along the offensive line… has played in 35 of 38 games over the past three seasons making 21 starts… his first eight starts came at a guard position and the last 13 have been at center… smart, athletic player… local product who played his high school ball at Dutch Fork High in Irmo… one of 44 players named to the preseason Rimington Watch List.

2008: Started every game at center, his first extensive duty at that position… was one of two linemen (also right tackle Justin Sorensen) to start all 13 games.

2007: Played in nine of 12 games, including starts in each of the first four contests… earned the start at left guard against Louisiana-Lafayette, Georgia and LSU and started at right guard against South Carolina State.

2006: Saw action in all 13 games as a true freshman… started four games – Wofford, Florida Atlantic, Auburn and Kentucky at right guard… also used on special teams.

HIGH SCHOOL: Local product who graduated from Dutch Fork High in Irmo in 2006 where he played for Coach Bill Kimrey… earned a spot on the Orlando Sentinel All-Southern Team… named the South Carolina Football Coaches Association Lineman of the Year… was a first-team all-state honoree by The State and by the Associated Press after leading the Silver Foxes to an 8-3 record as a senior… rated the No. 2 player in the state at any position according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal… graded out at 93 percent with 62 knockdown blocks and no sacks allowed his senior year… rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com… Rivals.com ranked him as the No. 8 offensive guard in the country and listed him as the No. 3 player in the state of South Carolina regardless of position… became the first lineman to be recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week by the Columbia Touchdown Club… played alongside fellow Gamecocks Rodney Paulk and Nick Prochak for the South Carolina team in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
