Kelvin Rainey Bio
Third-year tight end who provides the Gamecocks with excellent depth at the position… also has been a contributor on special teams.
2013: Began the fall back at tight end after working at linebacker in the spring… also used on special teams… played in eight games seeing action at both tight end and on special teams… did not record any statistics… recognized at the 2013 spring game for making ‘Big Plays’ on defense during the spring.
2012: Redshirted as a true freshman tight end… named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll… graduated from high school in December 2011 and enrolled at the University of South Carolina in January… was one of three players to do so, joining brothers Brock and Clayton Stadnik.
HIGH SCHOOL: Hauled in 85 passes for over 1,500 yards in his three-year prep career at Yulee (Fla.) High School, graduating in December 2011… rushed 59 times for 506 yards and four touchdowns and caught six passes for 85 yards in a run-oriented offense as a senior… added 87 tackles on defense with three interceptions… coached by Bobby Ramsay… helped the Hornets reach the second round of Florida 4A state playoffs… team finished with an 8-4 record… selected to play in the Offense-Defense All-America Game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas… selected to the Mobile (Ala.)
