Sidney Rhodes Bio

2014: Contributor on special teams… played in 11 games… returned four kickoffs for 72 yards… returned a kickoff for a career-long 23 yards in the season opener versus Texas A&M… had a tackle against East Carolina and Missouri… returned two kicks for 35 yards against South Alabama… did not play at Clemson or in the bowl game due to a hand injury… nominated for the Burlsworth Award, given to a player who began his career as a walk-on.

2013: Former walk-on who was granted a scholarship prior to the start of the season… used primarily on special teams… saw action in all 13 games… notched seven tackles including five solo stops… had three kick returns for 47 yards… returned a kickoff 19 yards at Missouri… also had a 17-yard kick return against Florida and an 11-yard return against Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl… recognized as the ‘Outstanding Walk-On’ for the defense at the 2013 Garnet & Black Spring Game.

2012: Former transfer from Western Carolina, was converted from wide receiver to cornerback in the fall… saw action in 12 games, collecting five tackles… did not play in the season opener against Vanderbilt… had two stops in the win over Tennessee.
2011: Enrolled at South Carolina but did not play football.

2010: Attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C… participated in both football and track & field… walk-on who earned a spot as the kick returner for the Catamounts, earning Freshman All-SoCon honors as a returner… returned 16 kicks for 336 yards, a 21.0 yard average, with a long of 41 yards against Appalachian State… caught four passes for 22 yards and rushed six times for 52 yards.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Wren High School in Piedmont, S.C. in 2010… played wide receiver and defensive back for coach Jeff Tate… was the team MVP and earned all-region honors after catching 46 passes for 773 yards and 13 TDs… helped the Hurricanes to their first division title and advance to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years… a state qualifier in track.

PERSONAL: Sidney Rhodes has earned his degree in exercise science.
