Fifth-year tight end who came to Carolina as a walk-on, earned a scholarship and developed into a regular contributor… placed on scholarship at the start of the 2017 spring season… used primarily as a blocker throughout his career, but has also shown excellent hands… has improved his strength and technique… has made eight starts among 43 career appearances over the past four seasons with 23 receptions… graduated in May 2018 with a degree in marketing.

2018: Fifth-year senior tight end who played in 12 games, making four starts… missed the Missouri game with an injury… former walk-on who was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy… selected by his peers as one of four Unselfish Award recipients for the offense… caught eight passes for 81 yards with a touchdown… grabbed his first touchdown since 2015 against Florida, part of a two-catch day for 14 yards… had his biggest day in his final home game, catching two passes for 37 yards in the victory over Akron… named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2017: Junior tight end who played in all 13 games, making three starts… got the starting nod against NC State, Louisiana Tech and Tennessee… logged career bests with six catches and with 68 receiving yards on the season… matched his single-game high with two receptions at Tennessee… also had catches against Louisiana Tech, Arkansas, Wofford and Florida… named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll… placed on scholarship for the first time in the spring.

2016: Played in all 13 games, with a start at Mississippi State… had five receptions for 52 yards… caught one pass for 10 yards at MSU… caught two passes in South Carolina’s win over East Carolina… had a career-long 29 yard reception at Kentucky… a member of the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2015: Walk-on tight end who worked his way into the rotation early in the season… appeared in five games, making three starts… had four catches for 38 yards and a touchdown… made his debut against Kentucky and caught one pass for seven yards… added a 10-yard reception at Georgia… earned a start in a two-tight end formation against UCF and responded with a pair of catches for 21 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown catch… also started at LSU… did not play after the coaching change… named the Most Improved Tight End at the 2015 spring game.

2014: Enrolled at South Carolina in January… shared Freshman Offensive Player of the Spring honors with Connor Mitch… redshirted in his first year.

2013: Spent the fall at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy where he was listed as a tight end, wide receiver, punter and placekicker on the post-graduate roster… coached by John Shuman… caught over 20 passes and a pair of touchdowns… also considered walking-on at Penn State and had scholarship offers from Southern Miss and Temple before electing to join the Gamecocks.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Cardinal Newman in Columbia, S.C… coached by Brannon Tidwell… had walk-on offers from South Carolina and Georgia as a punter out of high school.

PERSONAL: Jacob Joseph August was born July 4, 1995… graduated in May 2018 with a degree in marketing.
