2013-14 – Capped off his season by scoring points for the Gamecocks in 100 backstroke at the SEC Championships … Missed matching his personal in the 100 backstroke by less than a tenth of a second at the championships as he clocked a time of 47.33 to place 17th overall … Swam on the 200 and 400 medley relay, and 800 freestyle relay teams at the conference championships which saw the Gamecocks break school records in each event … Named to SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

2012-13 – One of the Gamecocks[apos] top backstrokers and a solid contributor in the sprint events…Swam in eight of the nine meets during the regular season and at the SEC and NCAA championships…Made the finals in all three individual events at the SEC Championships…Advanced to the championship final in the 100 backstroke and finished fifth with a school-record time of 47.26…Placed 20th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.12…Finished 23rd in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 48.42…Swam a 48.00 in the 100 butterfly prelim, the seventh best time in school history…Helped the Gamecocks break school records in the 200 medley relay (1:26.95), 400 medley relay (3:11.83) and 200 freestyle relay (1:18.88) at the SEC Championships…Had the team[apos]s fastest times in both the 50 freestyle (20.12) and 100 backstroke (47.26) and the third fastest time in the 100 butterfly (48.00)…Part of the 200 medley relay (24th), 400 medley relay (28th) and 200 freestyle relay (26th) teams at the NCAA Championships…Lone regular-season win was a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke against Florida State…Part of four relay wins during the regular season…Named to the SEC Community Service Team and the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

2011-12 –One of Carolina[apos]s best swimmers…Scored points at the SEC Championships in the 100 backstroke with a 12th-place finish in a time of 48.78…Swam the team[apos]s best time of the season in the 100 backstroke prelims with a time of 48.68…Took 21st in the 100 butterfly at the SEC Championships in a time of 48.98…Had a personal record and NCAA B cut time in the 50 freestyle of 20.00 swimming the leadoff split in the 200 freestyle relay at the SEC Championships…Claimed first in the 100 backstroke against Duke/Queens (50.14) and East Carolina (51.63)…Won the 200 backstroke against Georgia with a personal best of 1:49.19, which was third best time by a Gamecock on the season…Also swam the 100 freestyle at the SEC Championships and finished 31st with a season best time of 46.05…Member of Gamecocks[apos] 200 freestyle relay (1:19.89), 400 freestyle relay (2:59.13) and 200 medley relay teams (1:28.23) that turned in NCAA B cut times at the SEC Championships…Time of 1:19.89 in the 200 freestyle relay was the second fastest in school history…Qualified to compete at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-meter butterfly…Finished 116th with a time of 56.26.

2010-11 – Set school record in 100 backstroke with a 47.39 in preliminaries at SEC Championships…Time was more than three seconds faster than his previous best…Finished 11th in consolation finals…Swam leadoff leg on 200 medley relay team that time-trialed a school record at SEC Championships (1:28.14)…Had team[apos]s fourth-best time in 200 back (1:49.96) at SEC Championships…Part of top 400 medley relay team that posted NCAA `B[apos] cut time at SEC meet (3:15.12).

PRE-COLLEGE – Graduated from Dorman High School…Coach was Jim Raymond…Team captain…Two-time All-American, three-time all-state selection, four-time all-region…Named Spartanburg Herald-Journal Swimmer of the Year…Club team is YSSC Spartaquatics…Finished second overall at YMCA Nationals…Member of National Honor Society and Beta Club.

PERSONAL – Full name is John Walter Warner Jr….Born Aug. 24, 1991…Parents are John and Dede Warner…Has a brother, Josh, and a sister, Jennifer…Plans to major in microbiology with a career goal to become a doctor…Chose South Carolina because of the campus and its proximity to home, and also because of the idea of being able to help the team from day one…Also considered offers from Georgia and Ohio State.
