2017
Indoors: Competed in one heptathlon, finishing 16th at the SEC Championships with a score of 4,526 points… finished fourth in the 1000m at the SEC meet, with a time of 1:07.93, his best finish in any event.
Outdoors: Took part in the decathlon at Georgia and again at the SEC Championships, but had to withdraw from both due to injury… Set PRs in the 110mH (15.06), high jump (1.99m) and shot put (12.84m) before retiring from the SEC meet.

2016
Indoors: Returned to indoor competition after a season off… opened his season in the heptathlon at the Penn State National meet, where he placed fifth overall with a score of 5,051 points… hit a new personal best to close the indoor season, scoring 5,273 points in the heptathlon at the SEC Championship… that score came on the back of season-best performances in five of the seven events, including a new PR in the pole vault (4.30 meters)… his score at SECs ranks sixth in school history for the heptathlon.
Outdoors: Moved on to the decathlon outdoors and enjoyed a career year… broke the 7,000-point barrier at the Bulldog Multis competition in Georgia, hitting personal bests in each of his final three events to finish with 7,110 points, fifth-most in school history… one-upped himself again at the SEC Championship’s decathlon, reeling in five more personal bests over the two days to finish with 7,219 points and another new PR… he came ninth overall at the SEC meet… at the end of the season, he ranked among the team’s top-five performers in nine different events.

2015
Indoors: Did not compete
Outdoors: Competed in the decathlon at the SEC Championships, completing the first four events before withdrawing with an injury.

2014
Indoors: entered a pair of heptathlons, finishing his first effort at the Hilton Garden Invitational with 4,668 points…postet bests of 7.18 in the 60 meters, 2:44.77 in the 1,000 meters, 8:40 in the 60-meter hurdles, 6’3 f” (1.91m) in the high jump, 23’9 ” (7.24m) in the long jump and 42’9 f” (13.04m) in the shot put. Long jump mark of 23’9″ to finish fifth at the Armory Collegiate Invitational is No. 7 in program history.
Outdoors: Entered two decathlons during the season, finishing 10th at Mt SAC (6,210 pts) and fourth at his first SEC Outdoor Championships with 6,995 points, a collegiate best and the No. 6 point total in school history…PR’ed in five decathlon events at SECs – the 400m (50.34), 110mH (15.24), pole vault (4.50m // 14-05.75), long jump (7.18m // 23-06.75) and javelin (47.33m // 155-03).

HIGH SCHOOL
Concentrated on multi events before coming to South Carolina…attended the Universite Catholique de Lille in Lille, France…at the French junior nationals, earned second place in the indoor long jump and the heptathlon…finished fourth last summer in the decathlon at the U-23 national championships in France…was selected by the French national junior team to compete in the heptathlon in 2011 for a dual against the United Kingdom…boasts PRs of 7,050 in the decathlon and 5,141 in the heptathlon.

PERSONAL
Son of Thierre and Nathalie Asselin, Alexandre has two siblings, Amelie (17) and Lauriane (13)…born in Paris, France, and grew up in Merignies, France…also considered North Carolina and Ohio State but decided to come to South Carolina because of the weather and the chance to be coached by international level coaches.
