Tim McConnell
Tim McConnell is in his first season with the Gamecock football program. He joined the staff as a special teams analyst after serving in a similar role for one season at North Texas and was named assistant special teams coach prior to the start of the 2024 fall camp.
Prior to joining the North Texas staff, McConnell spent two seasons as a Special Teams Quality Control coach at Memphis from 2021-22. In 2022, he helped Memphis kicker Chris Howard earn first team All-AAC honors after leading the league with 20 made field goals.
A New Jersey native, McConnell previously worked as a Special Teams graduate assistant at Rice from 2019-20.
He joined the Owls after spending one season at Villanova as an assistant coach where he worked with the cornerbacks in addition to serving as the special teams quality control coach.
McConnell graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., in December of 2017 with a degree in Communications Studies where he also was a member of the football team as a defensive back and long snapper. The Dukes won a pair of NEC championships during his career. He began his coaching career at Duquesne after graduation, assisting with the defensive backs.
