AMES, Iowa – Keith Hinnant ran his first provisional time of the year in the 400-meter dash to lead the South Carolina men’s track team at the NCAA Last Chance Meet in Ames, Iowa, Saturday.
Hinnant ran 47.24 Saturday to place 13th in the 400m. The time was a season-best for him as he improves his time to up his chances of qualifying for the NCAA Championships that will be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from March 14-15. Jussi Heikkila, Quentin Moore, Ray Miley, Aaron Anderson and Jamil James also ran in the event.
The men’s 4x400m relay team of Hinnant, Derron Flood, Jamil James and Ray Miley ran a 3:09.41 to finish ninth. The time was a provisional qualifying mark and was the second-fastest time of the year for South Carolina behind the team of Hinnant, Aaron Anderson, Heikkila and Moore that won the SEC Championship.
Michael Zajac placed fifth in the men’s weight throw and Jason Cook took eighth in the shot put. Lamar Markett was the lone Carolina runner in the 60-meter dash, running a 6.88 to place eighth.
