NOTES:
Carolina swept Alabama for the first time since 2016, defeating the Crimson Tide by scores of 6-5, 2-1 and 11-5 on the weekend. It was Carolina’s first sweep in SEC play since last May at Kentucky.
The Gamecocks had their third walk-off win of the season on Thursday night as Colin Burgess’ single to left scored Evan Stone for the 6-5 win. The Gamecocks had home runs from Andrew Eyster, Michael Braswell and Josiah Sightler in the win.
Noah Hall had a great start in Friday’s 2-1 win. The Charlotte, N.C., native allowed just three hits with no runs and eight strikeouts. He took a no-decision but the Gamecocks scored a run in the bottom of the eighth on Brandt Belk’s sacrifice fly for the one-run win. Hall has a 3.09 ERA and a .231 opponent’s batting average in SEC play.
Andrew Eyster set a career-high with six RBI in Saturday’s 11-5 win over the Crimson Tide. That included a two-run home run, his eighth of the season. Eyster has 42 RBI on the season and 128 in his career at Carolina.
Carolina had an offensive explosion in Saturday’s win over Alabama, tying a season-high with 14 hits and scoring in six of the eight innings. The leadoff batter reached all eight times and every starter reached base at least twice in the victory. Andrew Eyster, Braylen Wimmer and Kevin Madden had three hits apiece in the win.
Carolina improved its record to 18-9 at Founders Park this season, which includes series wins over Texas, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss and a sweep of Alabama. Carolina has six home games remaining with single games against North Carolina A&T, USC Upstate and Charlotte and a three-game set vs. Kentucky.
The Gamecocks have four games this week, hosting North Carolina A&T on Wednesday and visiting Texas A&M for a three-game SEC series this weekend. Wednesday’s game will be televised on SEC Network.
