Swimming and Diving Hosts Georgia Tech

COLUMBIA, S.C. –
South Carolina swimming and diving returns to Carolina Natatorium to host Georgia Tech in their second meet of 2018. The meet will take place on Saturday starting at noon.
The Gamecocks are coming off their first meet of 2018, where they topped East Carolina in dual action 176.5-115.5 (men) and 181.5-110.5 (women). South Carolina took first place in every event at the meet, moving the men’s 2017-18 record to 3-3 and the women’s to 4-3.
Seven Gamecocks have recorded times within this season’s top-25, according to CollegeSwimming.com. Fynn Minuth holds the highest ranking for his 4:16.07 in the 500 freestyle, which earned him the No. 8 spot. Minuth is also one of three Gamecocks to hold two top-25 times alongside Emma Barksdale and Nils Wich-Glasen.
The men are up 9-2 in their all-time series against the Yellow Jackets, while the women are undefeated against Georgia Tech in dual meets, 2-0. The Gamecocks last went up against Georgia Tech at the 2017 Georgia Tech Invitational, where South Carolina’s men placed fourth and the women placed fifth.
The Gamecocks earned eight first-place finishes at the Georgia Tech Invitational, where they competed against Alabama, Auburn, Campbell, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern.

South Carolina is back in Columbia to host the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 26 and 27 in the Carolina Natatorium. The invitational will include UNCW, East Carolina, Queens and Wingate.
