South Carolina swimming and diving travels to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend. The Gamecocks will be going up against Alabama, Auburn, Campbell, East Carolina, Florida State and Georgia Tech. The invite will begin on Nov. 16, and continue through Sat. Nov. 18.

Each day of the meet will consist of a preliminary round and finals for the day’s events. The prelims will begin at 10 a.m., and all three days’ and finals will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Gamecocks will compete against two Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponents in Alabama and Auburn. South Carolina is coming off a bye week after hosting Auburn on Nov. 4. The Gamecocks recorded 13 season-best times and 12 first-place finishes at the meet, but were unable to top the Tigers. Auburn has dropped in the rankings from No. 9 to No. 10 (men) and No. 13 (women). Alabama’s women and men are also ranked at No. 11 and No. 14, respectively. The Gamecock men currently check in at No. 18.

South Carolina boasts 13 spots in individual events’ top 25 in the nation. Fynn Minuth, Akram Mahmoud and Nils Wich-Glasen each hold top-25 times in two events for the men. Emma Barksdale and Julia Vincent each represent the Gamecock women in the top25 in the 200 IM and 3-meter diving, respectively.

In its last showing at the Georgia Tech Invitational in 2016, South Carolina took fourth in both the men’s and women’s competitions. Current senior Akram Mahmoud took first in the 1650 freestyle. Kersten Dirrane earned another first-place finish for the Gamecocks in the 200 breaststroke, and Julia Vincent grabbed first in the 1- and 3-meter.

Live results for this weekend’s meet will be provided by Georgia Tech, available here. There will also be a live stream of the meet here. To keep up-to-date with South Carolina’s progress throughout the weekend, be sure to follow the Gamecocks on Twitter @GamecockSwim.
